Cosmos for Humanity

From the ancient Greek "κόσμος" (kósmos), meaning "ordered world", and the Latin "humanitas", meaning all human beings. Cosmos for Humanity evokes space exploration acting in the interests of humanity by preserving the orbital environment for future generations. Founded in 2021, Cosmos for Humanity is the first citizen NGO committed to promoting the sustainable development of space activities. Recognized as a charitable organization, all donations are tax-deductible. Cosmos for Humanity is supported by a community of citizens and companies committed to the sustainable use of space: the Cosmos Rangers. --- The use of satellite data has an environmental cost: we need to document this better while encouraging space operators to adopt responsible behavior if we are to maintain sustainable access to space for Humanity. Our actions: - Outer Space Footprint (OSF): an indicator dedicated to the environmental footprint of space activities, developed in partnership with the French space agency (CNES). It enables citizens and companies to compare goods and services in the light of their environmental impact from space. - The 1st citizen label dedicated to space sustainability: Controlled and certified by citizens, in a transparent, autonomous and unforgeable way, this label, developed in collaboration with the IXO blockchain, enables companies to better take into account the issue of space pollution in their CSR approach, while actively involving citizens. - With technical support from Parametry.ai, Cosmos for Humanity is developing Space DAO, a decentralized Space Traffic Management project initiated by the Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP) of the European Space Agency (ESA).
