Antony Rainchik

Research and Development Engineering Intern at Applied Materials

Antony Rainchik's Summary

As Technical Staff at UW-Madison CoE Makerspace, I support the operation and maintenance of various prototyping equipment, such as 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters. I also assist students and faculty with their projects, providing guidance and feedback on design, fabrication, and troubleshooting. My positions as 3D Print, CAD, and Machine Shop chair illustrate the areas where I am considered an expert among the staff, and assist other staff members with any issues they encounter. I enjoy working in a collaborative and creative environment, where I can apply my skills and knowledge in mechanical engineering and computer science. I recently completed an eight-month internship at Formlabs, a leading company in the 3D printing industry. There, I worked with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the reliability of Form 2 and Form 3 SLA, and Fuse SLS consumer electronic additive manufacturing ecosystems and materials. I utilized engineering techniques such as Python, Excel, CMM analysis, CAD, and 3D scanning for the development and validation of new and existing 3D printing materials and hardware. I also designed statistical testing and integrated custom development tools and UI for a printer status. I learned a lot from the startup environment, where I had to be flexible and independent in fluctuating circumstances. I am passionate about prototyping, rocketry, robotics, Arduino, electric longboards, and more. I have participated in several hackathons and competitions, where I showcased my innovation and problem-solving abilities. For example, I won the second place in the UW-Madison Solympics Hackathon, where I designed, manufactured, and assembled a solar-powered charging station for a community organization. I was also a member of the mechanical team that captained the finalist alliance in the FIRST Robotics FTC Detroit Worlds. I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies, and to take on new challenges.
