Eleven years ago, I had no idea you could make a career out of IT. I wasn’t aware and I even grew up with computers during my grade school years. Then I randomly signed up for an IT course just to fill in 3 credit hours for a fall semester at university. It changed my entire career path and life for that matter. I’m now an IT Manager after working as a Systems Administrator for over a year. I take every day as a chance to learn more, exceed expectations, and set an example in the workplace through hard work. IT has undoubtedly sharpened my interpersonal skills and given the opportunity to meet people from all different walks of life. Not only do I enjoy working in this profession for the technology but getting to know the people I support only motivates me to be a better problem solver in any capacity. My time in IT has given me the opportunity to display my self-motivation and work ethic. I was even awarded Employee of the Month in June of 2019 by UTHealth. I find it oddly satisfying when I resolve a troublesome IT problem, set up a new system from start to finish, or even repairing broken equipment. The rush is what drives me to learn; very much so that I now have experience managing network switches/firewalls, servers, server backups, O365, SSO, VOIP telephones, end point protection, & web/email filters. This profession leaves me with a feeling of purpose and value while also allowing me to professionally grow and succeed. It’s a win-win for me. I am eager to learn more and advance my career in every aspect. I'm also an F1 fanatic and car enthusiast!
