Understanding how humans function, from the molecular level up to the individual and group macro level phenomena is a fascinating topic. The union between different scientific fields like biology, medicine and sports, and cutting edge computational tools and algorithms (i.e. machine learning) helps us understand it slightly better. The will to contribute to this topic led me to a MSc, PhD and Post-doc in Biomedical Engineering, specifically on computational algorithms and methods (optimization, data science and machine learning) focusing on human movement and physiology. I am now working as a Head of Data Science for STATSports using analytical methods, namely machine learning, to provide innovative insights on the use of GPS and Inertial measurements focusing on the behaviour and workload of athletes, individually and collectively.
