John Y.

During my senior year of my undergraduate education, I began writing a business plan with a view of starting a retail furniture store in a midwestern market. After graduation, I focused on the Indianapolis area and by August, Furniture Outfitters was open for business. After operating the business for several years, I decided to pursue an M.B.A. from IU's Kelley School of Business, which I earned in 2008. Thereafter, I started a new, second business to become an online retailer of furniture. Developing a different skill set for the e-commerce business was challenging but exciting; SEO and SEM are crucial to my business and both continue to evolve so quickly. In late 2013, I stepped back from the day to day of retail furniture to pursue an opportunity with another Indiana small business called Indiana Oxygen. As Indiana Oxygen's database administrator, I have been filling in the gaps in its data stores while preparing for the implementation of a new ERP system. I have also been able to continue to use and develop my e-commerce skills by helping Indiana Oxygen's e-commerce team enhance current product listings, add product to its online catalog, and enhance its SEM projects.
