As an Associate Researcher at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), I apply my 13 years of experience and my dual degrees in Project Management and Animal Nutrition to lead and coordinate impactful research projects that improve the livelihoods of rural farmers and enhance food security in dry areas. I have a passion for finding innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities of livestock farming in Ethiopia and beyond, especially in sheep fattening and forage production. In my current role, I conduct on-farm and on-station research on improved sheep fattening methods and technologies, using robust data analysis methods and tools, such as SPSS, SAS, and R, to interpret, describe, and publish the findings. I also produce high-quality reports, papers, and articles of a publishable standard, with a clear and engaging writing style. Additionally, I support the development of research agendas and budgets, in conjunction with the key stakeholders and national policy makers. I also direct and supervise the field and on-station research activities, ensuring the highest technical standards and logistics. Furthermore, I prepare innovation books, guidelines, tools, training manuals, briefs, and technical reports, and train technical assistants, experts, and farmers on feed, nutrition, and fattening business. Through my work, I contribute to the mission of ICARDA to improve the income and resilience of rural farmers.
