Prof. J Thakkar

Dr. Jitesh J. Thakkar is a Dean (Academics) & Professor (Logistics & SCM) at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), Central University, Vadodara - India’s only University in the transportation and logistics sector sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, Govt of India. Dr. Thakkar was a faculty at IIT Kharagpur and contributed as a faculty expert at various IITs, IIMs and prestigious institutions for his expertise in Logistics, Supply Chain, Multi-modal Transportation, Rail Operations, Six Sigma and Project Management. He holds Ph.D in Supply Chain Management from IIT Delhi, M.Tech. in Industrial Engineering from IIT Delhi and Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering conferred with Gold Medal from one of the oldest Government Engineering College - Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College, Sardar Patel University. Dr. Thakkar is listed in the World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University. He has supervised 13 Ph.Ds and more than 100 B.Tech./M.Tech./MBA projects. He is a productive researcher with H-index 42 and 100+ research papers published in SCI/SCOPUS indexed journals. The research papers are published in the high impact factor and A* & A grade journals of ABDC (Australian Business Deans Council) such as International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, Transportation Research (Part-E), International Journal of Production Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering etc. He has published three books – Structural Equation Modeling, Multi-Criteria Decision Making and Project Management with Springer. He has contributed as Associate Editor of the journals – i) International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, Emerald and ii) OPSEARCH, Springer. He has executed number of large scale research and consultancy projects sponsored by DST, DRDO, ICSSR, and MHRD. He has extended training/consulting to various organizations such as DRDO, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Ordnance Factory etc. His online course on “Six Sigma” offered by SWAYAM-NPTEL has benefited more than 50,000 University students and Industry professionals.
