“There has to be more.” This sentence has been in the back of my mind my entire life. In everything I did, I felt that there had to be more. There was something in life that I was missing out on. Even as I job-hopped from one endeavour to another, sometimes partnering with other dreamers and sometimes going solo, I felt dissatisfied and incomplete. My name is Richard Chaney, and this is the story of how I went from clocking in my hours to loving my job and my role as a leader. Although my love for collaborating with others and my people skills got their time in the sun as a real estate professional, I still felt like there was some secret ingredient that would make me whole that I simply hadn’t discovered yet. This feeling would be at its peak whenever it was time for me to disengage from a client. “Well, thank you very much. Goodbye,” we’d say to each other, knowing full well we’d never see each other again. A simple transaction and a farewell. I would have given them what they wanted, but I knew I could give more. All I needed was the opportunity, to be in a role where my clients could trust me and look up to me as a leader. The secret ingredient turned out to be joining a new company, one that put its focus on communication rather than basic transactions. I started following that ideology, and was blown away by the results. You see, clients value human interaction. When you communicate with them properly, the way I did, it builds trust. They come back to you because they know you value them! This makes the situation a win-win for both parties: for the client, they have someone they can put their faith in. For real estate professionals like you and me, it means increased income per client. Since I prefer to spread the wealth rather than hoard it, the next move for me is to partner up with people like you and teach you how to communicate with clients and grow into your role as a leader.
