Sarkis has more than 18 years of experience in Financial Services. He started his career in Banking within Technology and Risk before moving to EY as a Management Consultant where he advised boards and delivered projects for global banks in the UK and abroad such as RBS, Lloyds Bank, Barclays Capital, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Nomura, Nordea, SEB and SwedBank. Sarkis joined the Risk Chief Operating Office division at Deutsche Bank in February 2016 focusing on Risk Strategy before being appointed as the Head of Fintech Risk in May 2020. He focuses on Emerging Technology Risks, specifically Artificial Intelligence and Digital Asset Risks. He manages AI Risk Governance and Digital Asset Risk Governance across Deutsche Bank. His expertise include strong Non-Financial knowledge of new technology risks and controls and knowledge of Financial Risk (Credit, Market and Counterparty Credit Risk). Previously he has been involved with Risk Regulations (BCBS239 - Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting and FRTB - Fundamental Review of the Trading Book). Sarkis also has strong knowledge of new technologies such as Digital Assets and Currencies, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual / Augmented Reality and Internet of Things. Sarkis has a Bachelors (BSc) in Computer Science and Masters (MSc) in Finance both from the University of Leicester, holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) awarded by the CFA society of the UK and a certificate in Fintech from the University of Hong Kong. He is also a graduate of Said Business School at the University of Oxford with a Diploma of Strategy and Innovation. Sarkis is also passionate about making a difference in the world, with the improvement of education and the development of young people a key goal. He has been on the board of a number of non-profit organisations that focus on education. Sarkis believes that with the fast moving technological advances it is imperative to embrace and embed innovation in our everyday life but at the same time be aware and cautious of the new risks arising as a result of this new technologies. His expertise lie in helping organisations innovate responsibly.
