I am a Staff Software Engineer at Google managing a team of 5 individual contributors, working on health research and machine learning development and infrastructure. My team works in pursuit of health research and devices that help users understand and improve their critical health metrics. My passion lies with using sensors and algorithms to deliver insights and encourage users to continually improve their health. I ship great consumer electronics, balancing the market's need for products and features with the drive to ship quickly. I demonstrated this at Fitbit, where I started my career and served as the lead on the Fitbit Sense 1, Versa 3, and Versa Lite devices. I also worked as an individual contributor on countless Fitbit devices, making sure they made their ship date and could have their maximum impact on user health in the market. Bringing so many health features to accessible price points drives me to this day. I am a graduate of Cornell University's Electrical and Computer Engineering program, with Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees. I have spent summers interning with Tesla and Microsoft, and worked on the CUSat nanosatellite project (launched 2013). I've worked on a variety of fun and instructional class design projects and generally make it my job to solve complicated problems. As an engineer, I specialize in solving large engineering problems (like shipping products and all their features) and working with teams to find a fast, yet safe approach to shipping features and products. My greatest positions have involved working to motivate teams to be more than the sum of their parts. As a manager, I have gained experience working with teams to grow and find opportunities for them to learn and move forward in their careers, with a mind towards teaching and mentorship for other engineers and community contributions. I enjoy volunteering, engineering outreach, and communication, and have used my skills in volunteer positions, from teaching children basic coding skills to inspiring children's love for science at the San Francisco Exploratorium and the National Youth Science Academy. Outside of these, I have also taught introductions to engineering for elementary school children using Code.org, SparkFun Maker Kits, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi.
